• Middlesbrough beat Sunderland 2-1 away thanks to a first-half double from Uruguay striker Cristhian Stuani in the first Premier League meeting between the north-east rivals for almost eight years.
The visitors withstood sustained pressure after the interval when Sunderland hit back through Patrick van Aanholt and then pushed for the winner, but Boro held on to record their first victory since returning to the top flight this season.
Stuani, 29, opened the scoring with a piece of individual brilliance after 12 minutes, firing a long-range shot from outside the area over the head of goalkeeper Vito Mannone.
Then, just before the interval, Stuani rounded off a well-worked team goal after Adam Forshaw combined with Alvaro Negredo to split the home defence open.
Sunderland, who lost central defender John O’Shea to injury in the first half, refused to buckle and fully deserved their goal when Van Aanholt struck from inside the area after keeper Brad Guzan could only parry a shot from Duncan Watmore.
But they could not prise Boro open again and David Moyes’s side, who featured all three of their new signings from Manchester United, remain without a point after two games while Middlesbrough have four from their opening matches.

West Ham 1 Bournemouth 0

• Injury-hit West Ham United beat Bournemouth 1-0 to record their first Premier League victory at their new London Stadium thanks to a late header from Michail Antonio on Sunday.
The hosts struggled to produce a performance worthy of a venue that hosted the 2012 Olympic Games and had to wait until the 85th minute for a breakthrough when Antonio rose at the far post to head home a beautifully flighted cross from Gokhan Tore.
Slaven Bilic’s side, missing forwards Andre Ayew, Andy Carroll and Dimitri Payet, lacked ideas until Bournemouth’s Harry Arter was sent off in the 78th for a second bookable offence after bringing down Cheikhou Kouyate.
That dismissal opened up the visitors whose resistance was finally broken with their first point of the season in sight. The home victory might have been more convincing but substitute Jonathan Calleri shot wide after being sent free on goal.

• Two first-half Sergio Aguero goals set Manchester City on their way to a 4-1 victory at Stoke City in the Premier League on Saturday as manager Pep Guardiola extended his 100 per cent record in English football.
Aguero, who missed two penalties in City’s 5-0 Champions League play-off victory at Steaua Bucharest on Tuesday, opened the scoring from the spot in the 27th minute after Ryan Shawcross had impeded Nicolas Otamendi. The Argentine forward doubled his tally nine minutes later, nipping ahead of Glenn Whelan to meet a sumptuous Kevin De Bruyne free kick and send a fine header across Shay Given and into the far corner of the goal.
Bojan Krkic pulled one back with a 49th-minute penalty after Raheem Sterling fouled Shawcross, but City sealed the win four minutes from time when substitute Kelechi Iheanacho rounded Given before crossing for Nolito to tap home his first Premier League goal and the Spaniard added the fourth in stoppage time.

Tottenham Hotspur 1 v Crystal Palace 0

• Victor Wanyama grabbed a late goal, his first for the club, to earn Tottenham Hotspur a 1-0 victory over London rivals Crystal Palace.
Spurs dominated the first half but Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey made three fine saves to keep the visitors in the game. Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye missed a good chance on the hour, blazing a shot wastefully over the bar after being teed up by Spurs old boy Andros Townsend.
Spurs striker Vincent Janssen also spurned an excellent opportunity when he shot wide after being sent clear by a fine pass from substitute Dele Alli but Wanyama headed in from close range following a corner to seal the points seven minutes from time.

West Brom 1 Everton 2

• Goals from Belgium forward Kevin Mirallas and midfielder Gareth Barry steered Everton to a 2-1 win at West Bromwich Albion after Gareth McAuley had given the hosts an early lead.
It was the first taste of success for Everton’s new manager Ronald Koeman, whose side fell behind after Northern Ireland defender McAuley stole in at the far post to head home a Craig Gardner corner.
Everton enjoyed the majority of possession in the opening period and made it count on the stroke of half-time when Mirallas beat goalkeeper Ben Foster with a slick finish after incisive passing by Barry and Ross Barkley.
Everton looked a different side after fit-again striker Romelu Lukaku came on as a first-half substitute and Barry capped a memorable afternoon when he nodded in the winner on the hour after Mason Holgate’s touch fell kindly for him.
Burnley 2 Liverpool 0
Club home: Vokes (2’), Gray (37’)
• Promoted Burnley enjoyed their first win on the club’s return to top flight after strikers Sam Vokes and Andre Gray produced superb first-half goals to give them a 2-0 win over Liverpool.
Fans at Turf Moor had barely settled in their seats when Vokes beat goalkeeper Simon Mignolet with a rasping shot on the turn in the second minute after Gray found him on the edge of the penalty area.
Gray celebrated his first Premier League goal, cutting inside two markers and unleashing a crisp low shot from 18 metres which beat Mignolet at the near post after excellent work from Belgium midfielder Steven Defour.
Missing new signing Sadio Mane due to a shoulder injury, Liverpool were a pale shadow of the side that earned a 4-3 win at Arsenal on the opening day of the season. For all their possession, the visitors were reduced to sporadic long-range efforts against a well organised Burnley defence.

Watford 1 Chelsea 2

• Chelsea scored twice in the last 10 minutes to beat Watford 2-1 and earn their second victory of the season.
Watford’s Etienne Capoue smashed a swerving shot past keeper Thibaut Courtois and into the top corner of the net after 55 minutes following a cross from the right by Adlene Guedioura.
Chelsea equalised 10 minutes from time, substitute Michy Batshuayi following up to tap the ball home for his first goal for the club after Eden Hazard’s fierce shot was saved by Heurelho Gomes.
Substitute Cesc Fabregas then released Diego Costa with a sublime pass and the striker finished calmly three minutes from the end to seal victory for Antonio Conte’s team.

Swansea City 0 Hull City 2
Club away: Maloney (79’), Hernandez (90’+2)
• Shaun Maloney and Abel Hernandez struck late for Hull City as they won 2-0 at Swansea City, ending the home side’s five-game unbeaten run at the Liberty Stadium.
Hull had never before won their two opening matches in a top-flight season but they followed up last weekend’s triumph over champions Leicester City in style.
The visitors went in front when Curtis Davies headed Robert Snodgrass’s corner into the path of substitute Maloney in the 79th minute.
Hernandez added a second for Mike Phelan’s men in stoppage time with a composed sidefooted finish after being played in by Maloney.

Leicester City 0 Arsenal 0
• Leicester City and Arsenal are still searching for their first wins of the season after sharing a 0-0 draw at the King Power Stadium that only came to life during a frenetic final 10 minutes.
Champions Leicester were left fuming after two penalty appeals were denied, with Danny Drinkwater felled by Laurent Koscielny at the end of the first half and substitute Ahmed Musa brought down by Hector Bellerin in the 88th minute.
Arsenal offered more attacking purpose in a tight opening 45 minutes although they did little to trouble Leicester’s defensive unit.
The home team were rocked by an injury to debutant Nampalys Mendy in the 53rd minute. Both sides had chances as the game opened up, Jamie Vardy firing over the bar and Kasper Schmeichel making sharp saves from Bellerin and Theo Walcott at the other end.

• Zlatan Ibrahimovic opened the scoring with a towering header from Wayne Rooney's cross in the 36th minute and made it 2-0 from the penalty spot early in the second half after Jordy Clasie tripped Luke Shaw.
The Swedish striker, who was making his home debut, has now scored four times in three United appearances.
