Right-back: Joe Gomez (Liverpool) – Excellent as a centre-back earlier in the season, he flourished as a right-back at Huddersfield as Liverpool kept another clean sheet. Reuters

Centre-back: Shane Duffy (Brighton) – He and his centre-back partner Lewis Dunk were outstanding as manager Chris Hughton earned a victory on his return to Newcastle. Reuters

Centre-back: Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) – Maintained his terrific form for the season with another dominant display for a side who have only conceded three league goals. Reuters

Left-back: Adam Masina (Watford) – The Italian marked his first Premier League start with a solid display to shut out in-form Wolves in a surprise win. Reuters

Right midfield: Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City) – Recovered from his penalty miss at Anfield to score a delightful goal in the 5-0 rout of Burnley. Reuters

Centre midfield: Etienne Capoue (Watford) – His magnificent opener from long range was the first of two goals in as many minutes Watford scored to win at Wolves. Reuters

Centre midfield: David Silva (Manchester City) – Others got the five goals but Silva was the classiest player on the pitch and set up City’s first two goals against Burnley. EPA

Striker: Anthony Martial (Manchester United) – Suddenly reborn, the Frenchman scored two well-taken goals as United went agonisingly close to victory at Stamford Bridge. EPA
