Too expensive to fly from Liverpool to Madrid to go watch the Uefa Champions League final? Why not drive down then?

That is exactly what three Liverpool fans and one Tottenham Hotspur supporter did ahead of tonight's big game, except they did it in a beat up car that cost them £40 (a little less than Dh200).

YouTuber Simon Wilson, his brother and their two friends overcame several challenges along the way, not least driving a Skoda Favorit that had all sorts of issues with it, heavy traffic, late arrival at the Dover ferry port to cross over to Europe, and cheap hotel accommodation to reach their destination.

At least Wilson has a ticket to watch the game.

"I was lucky enough to get a ticket in the ballot through my season ticket, but because the ballot wasn't announced until recently, I didn't want to book transport," Wilson was quoted as saying by the British media. "When I looked online, the transport was so expensive [that] it was ridiculous, the flights were around £800."

So Wilson had his brother look for a car online.

"I rang up my brother, Ben Wilson, and asked him how much was the cheapest car we could get," he said. "When he told me I was like 'just buy it now, we will worry about it afterwards'."

That is exactly what they did. To find out how they managed on their journey in it, watch the video below.
