Leeds United v Liverpool player ratings: Llorente leaves it late; Milner hopes European Super League 'doesn't happen'

An 87th-minute header from defender Diego Llorente gave Leeds United a 1-1 home draw with Liverpool in the Premier League on Monday after the home side staged a protest against the breakaway Super League prior to the kick off.

Leeds players came out for their warm-up wearing shirts emblazoned with the slogan "Earn It" under the Champions League logo - a reference to the fact that the proposed 20-club Super League will have 15 permanent members with no relegation.

A plane flew overhead trailing a banner proclaiming "say no to superleague" while the Liverpool team coach was greeted with fans venting their anger.

Liverpool midfielder James Milner said after the match he hopes a European Super League (ESL) does not happen despite his club being one of 12 teams to sign up to a breakaway.

"There is a lot of questions. I can only say my personal opinion, I don't like it and hopefully it doesn't happen," said Milner, who was Liverpool skipper for the fixture in the absence of the injured Jordan Henderson.

"It's been difficult, we've had a game we're trying to prepare for, but I can only imagine what has been said and agree with most of it.

"Players obviously have no say, so the welcome we got to the ground tonight felt a bit unjust. We are here to play football and have no control over it."
