Chelsea got their 2020/21 Premier League campaign underway with a 3-1 win at Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday night.

Italian midfielder Jorginho opened the scoring from the penalty spot midway through the first half after German striker Timo Werner - one of the Blues' exciting summer signings - was fouled in the area by Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan.

Leandro Trossard levelled for Brighton after the interval but parity only lasted two minutes thanks to Reece James' thunderous shot from outside the area.

Kurt Zouma then rounded off a fine individual display with Chelsea's third, converting James' corner with some help from a deflection by Adam Webster.

Assessing the performances at the Amex Stadium, Nick Judd has provided the player ratings in the photo gallery above. To move on to the next slide, click on the arrows, or if using a mobile device, simply swipe.
