Jurgen Klopp says runaway leaders Liverpool 'have a lot of space for improvement'

Jurgen Klopp has fired a warning to Liverpool's Premier League rivals, saying his side can be even better when football returns after the coronavirus-enforced shutdown.

The Reds made the best start to a season by any team in Europe's top five leagues in 2018/19, winning an incredible 27 of 29 games to sit 25 points clear at the top of the table before football in England was suspended mid-March due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

While it remains to be seen if the Premier League will resume to complete the 2019/20 season, few would begrudge the Reds a first championship since 1990 for their exhilarating brand of football.

While he has presided over a side that has enjoyed almost unprecedented levels of dominance in recent months, Klopp insists Liverpool can get even better.

"This team is not a finished article," Klopp told Sky Sports News. "It's not done yet, we have a lot of space for improvement yet.

"There is fresh blood internally coming up. We can mix things through. We can improve it with this team which is really great."

Former Liverpool striker Ian Rush feels Klopp's men deserve recognition for their achievement this season.

"Liverpool have got a great history but this group of players have broken all records," said Rush. "They do need to be recognised, the standards they have set.

"They are 25 points ahead. The way Liverpool have played this season they deserve to win the Premier League. They have played entertaining football. They have taken it to a different level."
