James Rodriguez 8, Seamus Coleman 9; Harry Kane 4: Tottenham v Everton player ratings

James Rodriguez's Everton debut ended in victory as Dominic Calvert-Lewin's powerful header sealed a 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur.

The new signing from Real Madrid - one of three midfielders making their Toffees debut - orchestrated possession from the right of a midfield three, while Brazilian enforcer Allan imposed himself on proceedings in front of the Everton back four.

But it was a thumping second-half header from Calvert-Lewin from an expert Lucas Digne delivery that claimed all three points for Carlo Ancelotti's side.

Tottenham were largely disappointing, although Dele Alli and Matt Doherty forced Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to pull off fine saves in the opening 45 minutes.
