North London derby goes the way of Spurs with a 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

TOTTENHAM RATINGS: Hugo Lloris – 7. The home team captain had to be sharp twice to keep out Lacazette headers, as well as deal with a number of crosses late in he game. Reuters

Serge Aurier – 8. Made the interception in his own box that led to Spurs’ second. Had his hands full with Saka and Tierney, Arsenal’s two brightest players, but coped admirably. EPA

Toby Alderweireld – 8. So rarely out of position. So smart as he blocked off Aubameyang’s late shooting chance. PA

Eric Dier – 8. Made two important headed interventions in quick succession, first to start the move that led to Son’s howitzer, then to turn away a Willian cross straight after. Getty Images

Sergio Reguilon – 7. His tireless running took a defender away to give Son extra space for his remarkable shot for the opener. In defence, he had to be sharp to keep out Willian and Saka following dangerous crosses. Getty Images

Moussa Sissoko – 7. His name was reverberating around the stands again as soon as the supporters had returned. He is such an imposing physical presence. Getty Images

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 8. Tottenham’s fine defensive record stems in large part from the screen he and Sissoko provide for the backline. Will have felt the appreciation of home support for the first time. PA

Steven Bergwijn – 8. Easy to see why he is becoming a Mourinho favourite, given his work rate, as well as his canny use of the ball going forward. AFP

Giovani Lo Celso – 6. Took a while to get to the pace on his return in place of Ndombele, and was yellow carded for a foul on Willian. Played the right pass for Kane’s goal, though. Getty Images

Son Heung-min – 8. Added another to his catalogue of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium stunners with spectacular finish from Tottenham’s first real break in the game. AFP

Harry Kane – 9. Another tour de force. Exchanged a goal and assist with Son. His headers in the home team penalty box were nearly as important as anything he did going forward. AFP

SUBS: Ben Davies – 6. Introduced to help lock the door even more securely, as Spurs switched to a back five with 20 minutes to go. EPA

Lucas Moura – NA. It would feel weird if Mourinho played a game without giving Moura at least some minutes, as he did at the end here. Getty Images

Joe Rodon – NA. Brought on in injury time to disrupt the flow of the final throes. Getty Images

ARSENAL RATINGS: Bernd Leno – 6. No chance with either strike, and had little to do other than pick the ball from the net, plus sweep a few clearances away. EPA

Hector Bellerin – 5. A casual foul throw summed up how off the pace he was at the start of the first half. He needed to be better with a crossing chance at the beginning of the second, too. Reuters

Rob Holding – 7. Backed off to allow Son to shoot. It proved an error, but otherwise he did his best to stand up against the in-form Spurs forwards. EPA

Gabriel – 7. Did well to blunt Bergwijn with the Spurs forward trying to sneak through for a third, and he played some crisp long passes to try to get his side moving. EPA

Kieran Tierney – 8. Provided the away side with some of their best attacking threats, as he took on Aurier and picked out some fine crosses. AFP

Willian – 6. So often a thorn in Tottenham’s side in his Chelsea days, but he could not repeat the threat after switching to red, as he struggled to carve any openings. Reuters

Thomas Partey – 5. His errant shooting early on amused the home fans, as did Lo Celso picking his pocket. He was injured and subbed in first-half injury time. EPA

Granit Xhaka – 4. Lucky to avoid yellow cards for three fouls on Kane in the first 30 minutes. Finally got one for felling Son. Imprecise and ponderous in possession. It seemed like all he had in his game was fouling. Reuters

Bukayo Saka – 7. Tried his best to provide some attacking impetus, but his better-celebrated colleagues were often on a different wavelength. AP

Alexandre Lacazette – 6. Looked as frustrated by his role in the formation as he was by Hojbjerg’s close attention. Gradually increased his involvement, but not to any appreciable effect. AP

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 4. Wasteful from a brilliant cross by Tierney at the start of the second half. Other than that, he was painfully anonymous when the away side needed so much more from their captain. Reuters

SUBS: Dani Ceballos – 7. The visitors looked much perkier after the break, with Ceballos setting a faster tempo than Partey had managed before he was subbed. PA

Eddie Nketiah – NA. Showed some bright touches as soon as he came on, but was not given enough time to make an impact. Reuters

Tottenham Hotspur had a North London derby to savour after beating Arsenal 2-0 to stay top of the Premier League for another week while consigning their bitter rivals to a sixth defeat of the season.

Son Heung-min opened the scoring with a spectacular finish and Harry Kane doubled the lead in the first half after finishing off a blistering counter-attack.

Arsenal improved after the break but were unable to break down a resolute Spurs side as Jose Mourinho set his team up to see out the victory.
