Aston Villa have announced the signing of Egypt international "Trezeguet" from Turkish side Kasimpasa. The promoted Premier League club not disclose financial details of the deal, but the BBC reported they had paid £8.75 million (Dh40m) for the winger. The 24-year-old for Trezeguet, whose real name is Mahmoud Hassan, started his career with Egyptian side Al Ahly and had a stint at Anderlecht in Belgium before moving to Turkey. He most recently appeared for his country at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, scoring one goal as the Pharaohs were eliminated at the last-16 stage. He also played at last year's World Cup in Russia. Trezeguet said he was attracted by a move after receiving glowing reports from compatriot and Villa defender Ahmed Elmohamady. "He's my captain and always speaks with me about Aston Villa, saying it's an amazing club and that I'd be happy here," Trezeguet said. Villa manager Dean Smith said: "We're really excited to work with 'Trez'. I've watched him a number of times. "He's the type of wide player that we have been looking for who is direct, causes problems for the opposition in the final third and scores goals." Villa must now wait on international clearance and a work visa from the British government for their latest new recruit. The midlands outfit have already signed former loan stars Kortney Hause and Tyrone Mings on permanent deals, and set a new club transfer record to bring in Wesley Moraes from Club Brugge for £22 million. Villa mark their return to the Premier League with an opening fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on August 10.
