A fine win at the Emirates Stadium - just their seventh in the league this season

  Goalkeeper: Pepe Reina (Aston Villa) – Desperately unlucky to be on the losing side. A penalty save from Heung-Min Son was one of a string of superb stops. Getty

  Right-back: Ricardo Pereira (Leicester City) – A terrific player having a terrific season and Pereira was very good again as Leicester’s 10 men took a point at Wolves. EPA

  Centre-back: James Tarkowski (Burnley) – Another defender in fine form of late. Tarkowski was the rock at the back as Burnley did a double over Southampton. Getty

  Centre-back: Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) – Liverpool made it 10 clean sheets in 11 league games in a superb run as Van Dijk was in commanding form at Carrow Road. Getty

  Left-back: Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) – A man-of-the-match display from the teenager helped Arsenal to their biggest win of the season. He set up the second goal. Getty

  Right midfield: Nicolas Pepe (Arsenal) – Has had a slow start to his Gunners career but the club record signing scored one goal and made two in the 4-0 route of Newcastle. Getty

  Centre midfield: Jordan Henderson (Liverpool) – Another influential display from the captain whose precise long pass led to Sadio Mane’s decider at Norwich. Getty

  Centre midfield: Ashley Westwood (Burnley) – Scored with a corner for the second successive season as he got the early opener in Burnley’s victory at Southampton. Reuters

  Left midfield: Jack Grealish (Aston Villa) – Showed his stellar form yet again with a terrific display in defeat to Tottenham. Spurs could not handle the Villa captain. Reuters

  Striker: Heung-Min Son (Tottenham) – Took his injury-time winner at Aston Villa beautifully as he compensated for Harry Kane’s absence with a brace. EPA

  Striker: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal) – Broke the deadlock against Newcastle with a well-judged header and went on to play a part in Nicolas Pepe’s strike. PA

A comprehensive victory at home for Arsenal - and not many times this season have their fans been able to say that.

The 4-0 win over Newcastle took the Gunners up to tenth - and it's worth remembering this was only their seventh win in the Premier League.

It also leaves them a mere 42 points behind runaway leaders Liverpool, who enjoyed a hard-fought win at Norwich to increase the gap to 25 points.

Elsewhere, there was a dramatic win for Tottenham at Aston Villa and a fine three points for Burnley at Southampton, who despite their revival, still struggle at home.

Manchester City make up their game in hand against West Ham on Wednesday.
