Arjen Robben admitted Bayern Munich were “brutally punished” by Sergio Aguero as Manchester City fought back to win 3-2 in their Champions League clash at the Etihad Stadium.
Bayern were 2-1 in front and looking comfortable heading into the final five minutes of the match, despite playing for more than an hour with 10 men.

But Aguero pounced on two defensive errors to turn the match around, completing his hat-trick in the process and ending the German side’s 100 per cent start to the competition.
“We’ve lost possession twice and been brutally punished,” Robben said on the Bayern website. “It’s a real shame because we played so well. We deserved something.
“I want to pay the team a huge compliment and we can be proud. We never went looking for a hiding place and we were excellent in possession even though we were a man down.”
Robert Lewandowski, who scored Bayern’s second goal, added: “We’ve made two or three mistakes in the last couple of minutes and Manchester City scored twice.
“I think we played really well even though we only had 10 men for so long. We played so well until the 80th minute, but unfortunately we couldn’t keep it going right to the end.
“We weren’t as focused in the last few minutes. It’s a shame.”
In other Champions League action, Schalke general manager Horst Heldt branded the team's 5-0 home defeat to Chelsea in the Uefa Champions League "embarrassing" and "unacceptable".
The Royal Blues trailed 3-0 at half-time in their Group G clash, going behind in the second minute, and there was no sign of a fightback in the second half as the Premier League leaders heaped on the misery.
Home fans made their displeasure known at the full-time whistle and Heldt said they had every right to do so.
“In the first half above all we did everything wrong that it’s possible to do wrong,” he told Schalke’s official website. “Even before going 1-0 behind we allowed them a chance and Ralf Fahrmann saved us at the expense of a corner.
“We put in an embarrassing performance, never went into challenges and didn’t defend ourselves. Therefore we were deservedly thrashed.
“You can lose against Chelsea - they are ultimately a very good team - but the way we lost is not acceptable.”
The loss saw Schalke drop to third place in the pool, two points behind Sporting Lisbon. They need to win away to Maribor in their final match and hope Sporting lose at Chelsea to progress to the knockout stage.
