Algeria are champions of Africa for the first time in 29 years and the celebrations have only just begun for manager Djamel Belmadi's squad of history makers.
Baghdad Bounedjah's second-minute strike proved to be the only goal of the game as Algeria won 1-0 against Senegal in Friday's Africa Cup of Nations final in Cairo.
Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez became the first Algerian to lift the trophy on overseas soil as he was presented with it by Fifa president Gianni Infantino.
Algeria's previous success had come in 1990 when they had hosted the tournament.
Goalkeeper Rais Mbohli said the victory had yet to sink in for he and his teammates.
He told beIN Sports: "It's incredible. The win is for the whole country.
"It's a bit hard to soak in right now but I think we'll realise what we've done when we return home."
Algeria manager Djamel Belmadi paid tribute to his squad and credited their resolve for their success - two years after the side had failed to get out of the group stages in Gabon.
"Without the players I am nothing," said Belmadi, who took charge 12 months ago. "They are the main ones. I suppose the staff played its part in guiding the players but they applied the instructions incredibly well."
