Al Jazira reclaimed top spot in the Arabian Gulf League with victory over Al Wasl on Saturday.

Jazira clinched a thrilling 3-2 win over Al Wasl at the Mohamed bin Zayed Stadium to take their tally to 50 points, one ahead of Baniyas, who played out a 1-1 draw with Sharjah.

Jazira took the lead on 13 minutes courtesy of an own goal from Hueglo Neris who mistakenly headed the ball into his side's own net.

Fabio Lima cancelled that lead 10 minutes later but the home side were back on 30 minutes thanks to Ali Mabkhout 's fine strike.

Lima again equalised with a fantastic close-range effort on 64 minutes.

However, Wasl's comeback was short-lived as Jazira’s Serbian defender Milos Kosanovic fired home a free kick to seal victory.

Baniyas playing later the evening lost their hold on the league lead following their result against Sharjah.

Joao Pedro put them in the lead from a spot kick converted on 23 minutes. The home side were unlucky when Brazilian Caio's header crashed against the woodwork just before the half-hour mark.

However, Caio found the net with a close-range shot into the bottom corner of the net four minutes before the break. The draw also saw Sharjah drop to fourth place on 42 points, one below Shabab Al Ahli.

Ajman revived their survival hopes with victory over Khorfakkan at the Saqr bin Mohammad al Qassimi stadium.

Bubacarr Trawally opened the scoring with just two minutes on the clock as Khorfakkan were reduced to 10 men when Ramon Lopes was sent off. Ajman made the numerical advantage count to double the lead through Luse Antonio on 18 minutes.

Bruno Lamas converted from the spot on 28 minutes to reduce the deficit before Leandro Spadacio regained Ajman's two-goal lead just five minutes after the restart.

Substitute Yousef Al Ameri got Khorfakkan back in the game by netting their second 10 minutes from time but Ajman held on for a first away win of the season, which saw them move up to 12th in the 14-team league on 14 points with three matches remaining.
