EVERTON PLAYER RATINGS: Jordan Pickford 6 - Had little to deal with throughout the game as both sides struggled to create meaningful chances. Happy to see Lo Celso’s shot from range strike the post. Reuters

Seamus Coleman 8 - A rock at the back at Goodison Park on the day. Coleman defended well for 90 minutes and never came out of top gear. Reuters

Michael Keane 8 - A match against Harry Kane is never easy but Keane read the play very well. The centre-back was constantly in the way and made countless interceptions to re-gain possession for Everton. AFP

Ben Godfrey 7 - A fairly solid outing. Looked to deal with everything with comfort in an impressive display. AFP

Lucas Digne 6 - The French defender didn’t look to deliver any crosses into the box as he faced a difficult battle against Tottenham’s high wingbacks, but he made no mistakes against a dangerous Son. Getty Images

Fabian Delph 7 - Defended well in the middle of the park and made some key interceptions as Spurs looked to release their dangerous trio up front. PA

Allan 7 - An aggressive display in the middle of the park saw Allan disrupt the Spurs midfield quickly to give them no time to look up and find one of their creative sparks. Tested the referee’s patience a lot with complaints. AP

Demarai Gray 6 - Struggled for service but had a chance late on that he cushioned just wide of the post. The forward will be disappointed with his finish. EPA

Andros Townsend 6 - Put plenty of crosses into the box but couldn’t find an Everton man as both sides looked to crowd the box when defending. PA

Richarlison 5 - Showed some neat touches in tight spaces to keep the ball but his most dramatic moments were when he looked to win fouls cheaply. Central to the key moment of the match when he looked to be brought down by Lloris in the area but VAR ruled out the initial penalty. Passing sloppy at times. Reuters

SUBS: Tom Davies (Delph 61) 6 - Worked hard when introduced but didn’t threaten the opposition. Reuters

Mason Holgate (Allan 83) N/R - Lost the ball in a dangerous area but was saved by the post from Lo Celso’s strike. And then was sent off moments later for a high challenge on Hojbjerg. A disastrous seven minutes for the defender. AP

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR RATINGS: Hugo Lloris 6 - The fingertips of the France international eased the ball away from Richarlison but required VAR to see the penalty overturned. AFP

Cristian Romero 8 - A standout performer at the back. Romero enjoyed the battle with Richarlison and often got the better of his opponents in duels. AP

Eric Dier 7 - Got in the way of a number of balls into the box and helped organise the back three. Lloris had a quiet day overall and that was thanks to the Spurs defence. AFP

Oliver Skipp 7 - A brighter display than what we saw against Manchester United. Skipp released Spurs front three on a couple of occasions and was also solid defensively. A good audition in front of Antonio Conte. AP

Sergio Reguilon 6 - Got forward regularly and looks to be enjoying playing in Conte’s system, but the wingback had to do much better with the volley at the backpost. PA

Antonio Conte's first Premier League game in charge of Tottenham Hotspur ended in a scrappy 0-0 draw at Everton on Sunday, as a crucial VAR intervention helped them scrape a point.

The pivotal moment in a game of few clear chances came just past the hour mark when referee Chris Kavanagh awarded a penalty against Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris for a foul on Richarlison but changed his mind after checking the pitchside monitor.

Tottenham substitute Giovani Lo Celso almost won it for Tottenham late on with a shot against the post, but a draw was just about a fair result for the two out-of-form sides.

Everton ended a feisty match with 10 men after Mason Holgate was sent off in stoppage time for a wild tackle on Spurs midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojgberg.

Conte will take some satisfaction from Tottenham's first league clean sheet for more than two months as the Londoners drew for the first time this season.

Tottenham are ninth with 16 points from 11 games with Everton, who ended a run of three successive league defeats, a point worse off.
