Valtteri Bottas beats Lewis Hamilton to secure pole for Chinese Grand Prix

Finn edges out his teammate, with Ferraris of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc finishing third and fourth

Championship leader Valtteri Bottas is on pole for the Chinese Grand Prix after edging out his teammate Lewis Hamilton in Saturday's qualifying session in Shanghai.

The Finn's time of 1 minute, 31.547 seconds was enough to top the times ahead of world champion Hamilton.

The Ferraris of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc had to be content with third and fourth, ahead of the two Red Bull Racing cars of Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly.

Daniel Ricciardo put in his best qualifying effort of the season so far with his new team Renault as he was seventh.

The race starts at 10.10am UAE time.
