2020 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix date set after Formula One announce schedule

Vietnam will make its debut in the third race of the season, while Holland returns to the calendar after more than three decades

The 2020 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will take place on November 29 after Formula One announced the schedule for the biggest season in the sport's history on Thursday.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, held at Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island, will once again be the season-finale and will be staged nearly eight months after the opening race at the Australian Grand Prix on March 15.

After Melbourne, F1 will head to Bahrain the following week, with the Sunday race scheduled for March 22. Vietnam will then make its F1 debut in the third race in Hanoi, set for April 5.

Holland makes its return to the F1 circuit after more than three decades in May, while the British Grand Prix has seen a slight date change to avoid clashing with the Wimbledon men's singles final and the Euro 2020 final at Wembley. The Silverstone race will instead take place on July 19, the same weekend as golf's British Open.

The German Grand Prix is the only absentee of this year's fixtures, following deals to save the rounds at Silverstone and Barcelona.

There will be a record 22 races during the 2020 F1 season.

The calendar is set to be formally approved at a World Motor Sport Council meeting on October 4.
