Parvez Khan, the chairman of Pacific Ventures, a new sponsor of the Sauber Formula One team, talks about his passion for the sport and why he got involved.

Have you always had a passion for racing?

Like every Indian I love cricket and cars and that has always been a part of my interests away from business. Everyone loves speed, I love speed and that is what brought me to Formula One.

What do you think of the 2014 season so far?

The racing has been very good and there have been some very good races. Sauber are improving after a tough start and I am confident they will get stronger as the season goes on.

What have you learnt from working so closely with a F1 team and seeing them at work over a race weekend?

It is all about teamwork. I have been so impressed watching how the team works. It is similar to construction in that all people see is the finished result, the property, but they do not see the hard work and team work that goes into putting it together. In F1 it is not just about speed, there are lots of people working hard behind the scenes to put the team where they are.

How did you feel the first time you saw the Pacific Ventures logo on the Sauber?

It was like a dream come true. I was watching Formula One on the TV, looking and thinking that logo looks good on that car, and then that logo looks good on another car, and that became the target, in mind, for my business, and to see it become a reality was a great emotion.
