Last week, Dubai Sports World closed its doors for another year having welcomed nearly 200,000 people through the doors, an increase of 13 per cent from 2014.

Running from June 21 to August 29, Dubai Sports World offers people the chance to play their favourite sports while escaping the UAE heat, as well as hosting kids academies in football, cricket, and basketball. Among the highlights this year included a basketball clinic hosted by NBA stars Ricky Rubio and Peja Stojakovic, the presence of former India cricketer Salil Ankola, and football classes run by Algeria international Madjid Bougherra.

This year, the venue saw 198,625 people pass through the door.

“It is encouraging to see a positive change in our society,” said Ahmed Alkhaja, Senior Vice President – Venues, Dubai World Trade Centre. “The increasing awareness of the importance of sports and healthy living is reflected in the significant rise in attendance at Dubai Sports World this year.

“Every year we set ourselves the challenge of adding more excitement and variety to DSW so that we can help more and more people stay active over the summer and we’re delighted to see those efforts pay off again this year.”
