Dani Alves's long-term future at Barcelona has been brought into question by the club's use of the Brazil international right-back as a scapegoat for their recent defensive insecurities.
Though leading the Spanish league, Barca have struggled to keep clean sheets so far this season and local journalists have been encouraged to identify Alves as a culprit for the problems at the back.
Alves, 29, agreed a contract extension making him one of Barcelona's best-paid players in March last year, yet has remained the subject of interest from overseas clubs.
Usually one of the fittest players at Camp Nou, he has been playing with a problem at the back of his upper left thigh for several weeks and has been unimpressed by criticism of his performances.
Barca are well covered in Alves's position with 21-year-old back-up Martin Montoya regarded by many as the best Spanish right back in the Primera Liga.
Montoya was called up to the senior national team last year and is expected to eventually displace Alvaro Arbeloa, the Real Madrid defender, as first choice.

Tips for job-seekers
- Do not submit your application through the Easy Apply button on LinkedIn. Employers receive between 600 and 800 replies for each job advert on the platform. If you are the right fit for a job, connect to a relevant person in the company on LinkedIn and send them a direct message.
- Make sure you are an exact fit for the job advertised. If you are an HR manager with five years’ experience in retail and the job requires a similar candidate with five years’ experience in consumer, you should apply. But if you have no experience in HR, do not apply for the job.

Explained
The UAE's journey to space
Why are you, you?
Why are you, you?
From this question, a new beginning.
From this question, a new destiny.
For you are a world, and a meeting of worlds.
Our dream is to unite that which has been
separated by history.
To return the many to the one.
A great story unites us all,
beyond colour and creed and gender.
The lightning flash of art
And the music of the heart.
We reflect all cultures, all ways.
We are a twenty first century wonder.
Universal ideals, visions of art and truth.
Now is the turning point of cultures and hopes.
Come with questions, leave with visions.
We are the link between the past and the future.
Here, through art, new possibilities are born. And
new answers are given wings.
Why are you, you?
Because we are mirrors of each other.
Because together we create new worlds.
Together we are more powerful than we know.
We connect, we inspire, we multiply illuminations
with the unique light of art.
