Former India captain Kapil Dev is in a stable condition in hospital after undergoing heart surgery.
The 61-year-old was admitted to a hospital in Delhi suffering from chest pains and had an emergency coronary angioplasty in the early hours of Friday.
"Currently, he is admitted in ICU and under close supervision." the hospital said. "Mr Kapil Dev is stable now and he is expected to get discharged in couple of days."
Nicknamed the "Haryana Hurricane", Dev played 131 Tests and 225 one-dayers before retiring in 1994 having established himself as one of cricket's finest all-rounders.
Dev took more than 400 wickets and scored more than 5,000 runs in Test cricket. He also took 253 one-day international wickets and scored 3,783 runs, including a top score of 175 not out against Zimbabwe at the 1983 World Cup.
A crafty medium pacer and a free-scoring batsman, he led India to the 1983 World Cup title in a memorable triumph of the underdogs beating a formidable West Indies team in the Lord's final.
