India receive quarantine clearance for Australia tour - reports

Sydney slated to be starting point of tour which included limited overs and Test series

The path has been cleared for India's tour of Australia to go ahead with Cricket Australia (CA) receiving the all clear for Virat Kohli's team to quarantine in Sydney, according to reports.

The Sydney Morning Herald and the Australian Associated Press reported that the Indians were originally scheduled to arrive in Brisbane and undergo quarantine there before playing six limited overs internationals in Queensland and moving on to Adelaide for the first of four Tests in early December.

But with time running out before the arrival of the players next month, and negotiations with Queensland health officials stalling over aspects of CA's plans, the governing body started exploring other options.

According to the reports, the New South Wales government approved CA's plans, clearing the way for the tourists to arrive in Sydney and play the short form matches there and in Canberra.

The Indian and many of the top Australian players will be arriving from the UAE where the Indian Premier League (IPL) concludes on November 10.

Indian Test specialists Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari and other members of the support staff are expected to arrive in the UAE over the weekend. They will be allowed to begin training after completing their six-day quarantine. The contingent will then travel to Australia.
