With the Asia Cup done and dusted following India's last-ball win against Bangladesh in Dubai on Friday night, it is time to look at which stars shone brightly in the 15th iteration of this continental tournament.
As you would expect, India will have a sizeable representation in an Asia Cup 2018 composite XI. Paul Radley has picked in his XI four players from India, three from Afghanistan, two Bangladeshi, one Pakistani and one from Hong Kong.
Unfortunately, it is hardly surprising no Sri Lankan player made the cut even though Lasith Malinga's performance in the opener against Bangladesh deserves mention.
Bangladesh have one fewer player than Afghanistan, but there is a rather simple reason for that: all three Afghanistan players deserved spots in the XI. But for a lack of experience and luck, Afghanistan could possibly have won all their Super Four matches against Pakistan, Bangladesh and India.
