Jason Roy (8/10): The opening batsman came back from injury to score a superb half-century. He provided great support to partner Jonny Bairstow who was hammering the India bowlers at the other end. Credit also to Roy for standing his ground even though he was caught behind and waiting for the Indian players to appeal. They did not, and the opener cashed in to eventually score a match-winning fifty. Getty -

Jonny Bairstow (10/10): England's main opening batsman responded brilliantly to criticism from the media by scoring what cricket fans will remember as his best ODI century - seeing as it proved to be a match-winning one. Getty -

Joe Root (5/10): It was a strange day for the No 3 batsman as he scored 44 from 54 balls, which slowed England's innings a great deal. Root also dropped Rohit Sharma when his score was still in single digits. Rohit went on to score a hundred, but at the end of the day it did not matter as England won. AP Photo -

Eoin Morgan (3/10): The captain was dismissed for just one off nine balls, but he gets points for the way he marshalled his men around the field in what was initially a tight run-chase. Reuters -

Ben Stokes (9/10): The all-rounder batted brilliantly for his 79 even as England's run-rate started to come down in the middle overs. He bowled just four overs, but he was excellent in the field. AP Photo -

Jos Buttler (6/10): The wicketkeeper-batsman scored a 20-run cameo and was mostly tidy behind the stumps. Reuters -

Chris Woakes (9/10): The all-rounder bowled brilliantly to take two wickets and also took two excellent catches - one off his own bowling to dismiss KL Rahul, and the second in the deep to send Rishabh Pant back to the pavilion. Reuters -

Liam Plunkett (8/10): The paceman bowled just the right length - just short of driving length - to take three wickets, including captain Virat Kohli, Pant and Hardik Pandya. They were all important dismissals seeing as they all put themselves in positions to score big. AP Photo -

Jofra Archer (6/10): The fast bowler was unlucky not to take the wicket of Rohit, with Root spilling a catch in the slips. He bowled quick and was mostly tidy with his line and length, although he went wicketless. Reuters -

Mark Wood (3/10): The fast bowler did not have the most successful day in the office as he conceded 73 runs from 10 overs. Getty -

Adil Rashid (3/10): The leg-spinner was also below par as he conceded 40 runs in six overs. Reuters
