Royal Challengers prevail after Super Over thriller in Dubai

MUMBAI INDIANS RATINGS: Quinton de Kock – 5. His tournament has not caught light just yet. He fell for 14 off 15 balls having been pinned down by Washington Sundar’s darts. Sportzpics for BCCI

Rohit Sharma – 4. Fell trying to hoist Sundar into the stands for a six that would have brought up the 5,000th run of his IPL career. Sportzpics for BCCI

Suryakumar Yadav – 4. Out for a duck second ball when he tried to glide Udana down to third-man, only to edge behind. Sportzpics for BCCI

Ishan Kishan – 9.5. So close to the perfect 10, so close to a century, so close to being the match-winner. Still a hero, even in defeat. Sportzpics for BCCI

Hardik Pandya – 5. Hit one massive six, but was dismissed trying to repeat the trick as he holed out to sub fielder Negi off Zampa. Sportzpics for BCCI

Kieron Pollard – 9. Like so often in his 150-plus appearances for his franchise, he was at his very best in extremis. Sportzpics for BCCI

Krunal Pandya – 7. Always scheming, like with his crouching, round-arm delivery to Padikkal. Went at 7.66 in the three overs he bowled. Sportzpics for BCCI

James Pattinson – 4. Had his toughest outing of the tournament so far as he was taken to in the slog overs. He ended with none for 51. Sportzpics for BCCI

Rahul Chahar – 7. Dragged his bowling effort back well after an expensive first over, and picked up the wicket of Kohli. Sportzpics for BCCI

Trent Boult – 7. Picked up both openers. Sconed De Villiers with a slower ball bouncer, but ended his overs by being hit for a huge six by the same player. Sportzpics for BCCI

Jasprit Bumrah – 5. As in the last game, he was back to his miserly best in his opening overs, only to let it slip when De Villiers got going. Sportzpics for BCCI

ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE RATINGS: Aaron Finch – 8. After a couple of indifferent games, he got this one off to a fast start with a purposeful 52 from 35 balls. Sportzpics for BCCI

Devdutt Padikkal – 7. A second half-century in the space of three games for a young player of great promise. It was not the fastest, though. Sportzpics for BCCI

Virat Kohli – 5. The RCB captain has not hit his stride in the tournament at all, yet. He made three before softly lobbing his 11th ball to Rohit. Got the job done in the Super Over, though. Sportzpics for BCCI

AB de Villiers – 9. Blistering batting to project Bangalore from their solid start to 201. He made 55 not out from 24 balls, and was key in the Super Over, too. Sportzpics for BCCI

Shivam Dube – 8. Played a brilliant hand with the bat, as a foil for De Villiers, with 27 from 10 balls. Not needed with the ball this time. Sportzpics for BCCI

Gurkeerat Singh – 4. Did not get a chance to get to the wicket, given how well De Villiers was playing. Palmed a catch over the boundary for six in the tense final over. AFP

Washington Sundar – 9. One for seven in three power-play overs was exceptional – even more so given the one was Rohit. Sportzpics for BCCI

Isuru Udana – 6. A nervy start to his RCB debut – followed by an even nervier end. He was jogging on the sport to calm himself before bowling the 20th over. Sportzpics for BCCI

Yuzvendra Chahal – 4. Bangalore’s best bowler in the tournament to this point has a good record against Pollard, but came off a distant second best this time. Sportzpics for BCCI

Adam Zampa – 4. What a tough start to his career with RCB. Went for 27 off his last over, and 53 in total. Sportzpics for BCCI

Navdeep Saini – 8. None for 43 in normal time is hardly sparkling, but he bowled a brilliant Super Over, which proved to be the important bit. Sportzpics for BCCI

Ishan Kishan's 99 went in vain for defending champions Mumbai Indians as Royals Challengers Bangalore won a dramatic Super Over in Dubai.

Kishan, 22, hit nine sixes in his 58-ball innings and put on 119 run for the fifth wicket with Kieron Pollard, who hit 60 not out, as Mumbai equalled Bangalore's score of 201.

Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers then kept down Mumbai Indians to seven in the Super Over, a score they surpassed with the skipper hitting the winning boundary on the final ball from Mumbai quick Jasprit Bumrah.
