India captain Virat Kohli has said it was an "honour" for him to get to meet and spend time with Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Harry ahead of his side's start to the Cricket World Cup 2019.

Kohli, along with the nine other skippers of the nations taking part in the tournament in England and Wales, spent time at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday in a meet-and-greet, which was followed by a garden party.

The 30 year old said of his time with the British royal family on Twitter on Thursday: "It was an honour meeting Her Majesty the Queen and Price Harry at the Buckingham Palace. @RoyalFamily."

India are the last of the 10 sides to place at the World Cup. They do not begin their campaign until June 5 against South Africa in Southampton.
