Kings XI crush Royal Challengers by 97 runs in Dubai

KINGS XI PUNJAB RATINGS: KL Rahul – 10. Twice spared by Kohli as his century neared, and the Punjab captain made his opposite number pay. Sportzpics for BCCI

Mayank Agarwal – 6. Undone by a googly from Chahal, and there is no shame in that. Had looked good until that point. Sportzpics for BCCI

Nicholas Pooran – 5. Struggled to get his power game going, despite his best efforts, then drove one straight to De Villiers when on 17. Sportzpics for BCCI

Glenn Maxwell – 6. Curiously out of sorts so far, given he arrived in the UAE off the back of a brilliant century for Australia in England. Did well with the ball, though. Sportzpics for BCCI

Karun Nair (right) – 7. Provided just the kind of support that was needed when Rahul was going so well at the other end, and he made the most of the deliveries he did face, too. Sportzpics for BCCI

Sarfaraz Khan (right) – 6. Not required with the bat as Rahul dominated, but at least he had a prized catch – that of De Villiers. Sportzpics for BCCI

Jimmy Neesham – 6. Did not make it to the crease to bat, and bowled two steady overs when the win was already all but wrapped up. Sportzpics for BCCI

Murugan Ashwin (second left) – 7. Three wickets including the big one of De Villiers represented a good night’s work on his return to the line up. Sportzpics for BCCI

Ravi Bishnoi – 7. Started sloppily, leaking wides down the leg-side and going for 15 in his first over. But he bounced back well with three wickets in all. Sportzpics for BCCI

Mohammed Shami – 8. Outstanding, just as he had been in the opening game. One for 14 off three overs did not flatter him. Sportzpics for BCCI

Sheldon Cottrell – 8. Removed RCB’s new opening star Padikkal, then as good as sealed the win when he induced a false shot from Kohli. Sportzpics for BCCI

ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE RATINGS: Devdutt Padikkal – 4. Always had his work cut out following his debut excellence, and he fell cheaply after being rushed by Cottrell. Sportzpics for BCCI

Aaron Finch – 5. Got through the testing opening burst by Cottrell and Shami, only to fall to Bishnoi’s leg-spin. Sportzpics for BCCI

Josh Philippe – 4. Vastly improved glovework on the first game. Promoted to No 3 with the bat, but went without scoring after he was trapped in front by Shami. Sportzpics for BCCI

Virat Kohli – 1. One to forget for the Bangalore captain. Two costly dropped catches off Rahul, then chipped up a catch to leave RCB on four for three. Sportzpics for BCCI

AB de Villiers – 6. Looked to be up for the battle to start with, but it was mission impossible, and he fell for 28 off 18. Sportzpics for BCCI

Washington Sundar – 7. Unlucky not to get more than two overs with the ball. Top scored with the bat, albeit with the result already decided. Sportzpics for BCCI

Shivam Dube – 6. His gentle medium pacers might not have figured too highly on the RCB gameplan at the start of the tournament, but he has done OK so far. Sportzpics for BCCI

Umesh Yadav – 2. Bowled one of the worst deliveries ever seen in the IPL, and was erratic again. He was not trusted to bowl all four overs. Made a duck, too. Sportzpics for BCCI

Dale Steyn – 2. Lax in the field, and had a nightmare with the ball. None for 57 from his four, including 26 off his last over. Sportzpics for BCCI

Navdeep Saini – 5. A pale imitation of his brilliance on RCB’s opening night. Little threat, but still some way better than their other lead seamers. Sportzpics for BCCI

Yuzvendra Chahal – 8. Chahal is only a skinny guy, but he is carrying his team’s bowling attack on his shoulders at the moment. Took the purple cap at the break. Sportzpics for BCCI

KL Rahul made the highest-ever score by an Indian batsman in IPL history as he powered Kings XI Punjab to a comfortable victory over Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Captain Rahul was dropped twice by Kohli as he hit an unbeaten 132 off just 69 deliveries to help Punjab post a massive 206-3 and set the stage for a massive 97-run win.

India captain Kohli had a night to forget when he dropped Rahul on 83 and again on 89 in Dubai. He failed with the bat as well as Bangalore slipped to 4-3 in the chase and were bowled out for 109.
