More than 120,000 expected to attend 'Kem chho Trump' event at the end of this month

US President Donald Trump is set to inaugurate the world's largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad at the end of this month during his India visit.

The White House said Mr Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will be in India on February 24 and 25 including in the capital New Delhi as well as Ahmedabad.

According to The Hindu newspaper, the US President and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 'Kem cho Trump' event – on the lines of 'Howdy Modi!' event in Houston last year – at the new Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium in Motera, which has a capacity of 110,000.

According to the report, an additional 10-15,000 will be seated in front of the stage.

Addressing reporters at The Oval office, Mr Trump said he has is looking forward to a big turnout during his visit to Ahmedabad.

“I just spoke with Prime Minister Modi. He said we will have millions and millions of people. He thinks five to seven million people just from the airport to the new stadium. And you know it is the largest stadium in the world. He is building it now. It’s almost complete. I look forward to going to India,” Mr Trump said.

The US President and the First Lady are also scheduled to visit Mahatma Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram during their stay in the city.

The new stadium at Motera has been built at a cost of around $100 million (Dh367m) and will seat more fans than the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which is currently the biggest cricket stadium with a capacity of 100,000.
