Rafael van der Vaart and Gareth Bale are both injury doubts for Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League game with Werder Bremen tonight.
Van der Vaart missed training yesterday and went for a scan on an ankle knock, while Bale picked up a shoulder injury in Saturday’s win at Arsenal.
Meanwhile Torsten Frings, the Werder captain, yesterday denied reports that Thomas Schaaf, the Bundesliga club’s coach, had offered to resign following Saturday’s 4-0 defeat to rivals Schalke.
"That is absolute nonsense. Thomas has never even mentioned the issue of his resignation," he told Syker Kreiszeitung.
