Boris Kabi will think over a move from Ajman, unless he hears otherwise

In-demand striker prepared for move away from club, although reiterates he is happy at Ajman. Al Nasr and Al Wahda said to be interested.

Boris Kabi, the Ajman captain, will consider a transfer to another club this summer, but only if the offer is suitable for both him and his current side.

The Ivorian forward is very much in demand, having enjoyed his finest season in UAE football, netting 27 times in 34 matches across all competitions.

His 23 goals in 25 Pro League games made him the division's third-most prolific striker for 2012/13, behind only Grafite and Asamoah Gyan.

Kabi's contract with Ajman still has another year to run, although the club have put forward the opportunity to extend that, on improved terms, until 2015. However, he has not accepted the deal and wants to assess his options.

He said Al Nasr and Al Wahda have already made known their interest, while a number of clubs from Saudi Arabia have contacted his agent.

Kabi, who on Sunday departs the Emirates for his summer vacation, has entrusted his agent to explore all possibilities before he returns for pre-season training on July 15.

"I have one more year with Ajman, but there are many clubs who want me," said the 28-year-old Kabi.

"I haven't made a decision yet. I'll wait to hear if someone makes me a good offer and then what Ajman consider is a good offer for them. Only then will I go.

"Ajman want me to stay. If they didn't, I would easily leave, but I have a good relationship with the club president. He wants to give me a good deal to stay, and that wouldn't be a problem, because everybody likes me here, I'm captain of the team and the club's like my family.

"I have big respect for them, and everything they have done for me.

"So I'll wait to see if I get offers from another club, and if it's better, then I'll speak to Ajman and ask them to let me go. I need a big challenge. I want to go to another club where I could maybe win the league, or the President's Cup."

Kabi guided Ajman to their first trophy in 29 years earlier this month, when he scored the winner in the Etisalat Cup final.

The former Al Dhafra attacker, who has also played in Saudi and Kuwait, has aspirations of an even better campaign in 2013/14, both individually and with Ajman, should he remain.

"Personally, I'm very happy with my season, but I want to score more next year," he said.

"To be top goalscorer, or at least second. I want to keep my reputation high, which is difficult but another challenge I'm prepared to take."

Asked if he could achieve that at Ajman, the club who finished 10th last season, Kabi added: "Yes, because we have a good team.

"However, if Ajman want to compete for the top five places in the table, they need to bring in good local players.

"Because now our name's more well-known, and if we want to keep it there, we need good locals, as the foreign players here are all at a high level.

"We should even be targeting second, although I want to finish first."

EMBOLDENED BAROOT MOVES ALONG TO EMIRATES

Eid Baroot is proud of his admittedly brief tenure at Al Wasl last season.

Baroot, installed as Guy Lacombe’s replacement in February, helped stop a lengthy skid, as the team took 17 points from 10 games and finished ninth.

He will take over Emirates, promoted to the Pro League, next season. “In the end, I’m very happy with everyone here, as they helped me a lot,” he said.
