WELLINGTON // Rain continued to plague New Zealand's cricket season with another one-day international against India spoilt by the weather. Last month's series against the West Indies was ruined by rain and India won a truncated match in Napier on Tuesday. But there could be no result in yesterday's second match against India when the rain came when the tourists had reached 188-4 in 28.4 overs with captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni 23 not out and Suresh Raina unbeaten on 13.
The washout left Dhoni frustrated after his side had got into a nice position with an entertaining start from the openers. "It was frustrating but the weather's uncontrollable. I don't know if we would have won but we were in a good position if it was a 50-over game," Dhoni said. Virender Sehwag struck the ball beautifully, despite being hampered by a leg injury and calling for a runner. Sachin Tendulkar also showed his class as both reached half-centuries.
Before the game there was a minute's silence for the victims of the terrorist attack in Lahore on Tuesday. The third of five matches will be tomorrow. * PA Sport
