Young players in Dubai will be coached by the former Western Australia batsman Ashley Thorpe at the Young Talents Cricket Academy (YTCA) summer camp later this month. Thorpe has had extensive experience working with children. "This is part of the academy's plans to give applicants exposure to foreign coaches. The foreign coaches will also train the local coaches of the academy to make sure applicants are given the same level of coaching throughout the year," said Shahzad Altaf, the chief organiser of YTCA.

Thorpe started his career playing for Scarborough CC in Perth Western Australia along with the likes of Justin Langer and since then represented Western Australia at under 19 level alongside international names like Simon Kaitch and Mike Hussey. Shahzad has high hopes for his young cricketers and is also planning a tour of the United Kingdom later to enrich their experience. "We are taking our tour to the UK seriously as we believe the hard work that these kids put in all year should be acknowledged by such tours, and we hope they are able to perform to the best of their abilities," he said. All up-and-coming cricketers are welcome to join the camp.
