ABU DHABI // Jorge Fossati thinks his first game in charge of Al Ain against Al Ahli will be a "special" occasion.
"The first game for me here is a final ... what everyone from the fans, the club management, players and the coaching staff have been patiently waiting for," the Uruguayan, speaking through a translator, said yesterday.
Fossati was appointed only a month ago, ending Al Ain's search for a coach following Cosmin Olaroiu's sudden departure to tonight's opponent in the summer event.
"We had a very short camp because of the fasting month of Ramadan, but we did some quality work in our camp in Austria to prepare for this game," Fossati said.
"I have a lot of faith in my players to start the season with a positive result. And in terms of my squad getting used to me as their new coach, there's not a big difference between my coaching style and the previous one; just some minor tactical differences."
Apart from Alex Brosque, the Australian forward who is recovering from a stomach surgery, Fossati said he had the full squad at his disposal.
Al Ain made one change from last season's foreign quartet, signing the Brazilian winger Michel Bastos in place of Jires Kembo Ekoko.
"I am eager to show my best for our fans' ambitions and happiness," Bastos, who arrived from the French Ligue 1 side Lyon, said.
"I am also ready for the whole season's matches, so we must win this match and concentrate on the whole season. The most important things is to have a good start against one of the most prominent rivals.
"I have spent a few weeks with the team so far, but I know Fossati well as he is a professional coach with a great career history. He was a coach for the club of my hometown in Brazil and I knew him before joining Al Ain."

- Start with a simple recipe such as yogurt or sauerkraut
- Keep your hands and kitchen tools clean. Sanitize knives, cutting boards, tongs and storage jars with boiling water before you start.
- Mold is bad: the colour pink is a sign of mold. If yogurt turns pink as it ferments, you need to discard it and start again. For kraut, if you remove the top leaves and see any sign of mold, you should discard the batch.
- Always use clean, closed, airtight lids and containers such as mason jars when fermenting yogurt and kraut. Keep the lid closed to prevent insects and contaminants from getting in.

How to keep control of your emotions
If your investment decisions are being dictated by emotions such as fear, greed, hope, frustration and boredom, it is time for a rethink, Chris Beauchamp, chief market analyst at online trading platform IG, says.
Greed
Greedy investors trade beyond their means, open more positions than usual or hold on to positions too long to chase an even greater gain. “All too often, they incur a heavy loss and may even wipe out the profit already made.
Tip: Ignore the short-term hype, noise and froth and invest for the long-term plan, based on sound fundamentals.
Fear
The risk of making a loss can cloud decision-making. “This can cause you to close out a position too early, or miss out on a profit by being too afraid to open a trade,” he says.
Tip: Start with a plan, and stick to it. For added security, consider placing stops to reduce any losses and limits to lock in profits.
Hope
While all traders need hope to start trading, excessive optimism can backfire. Too many traders hold on to a losing trade because they believe that it will reverse its trend and become profitable.
Tip: Set realistic goals. Be happy with what you have earned, rather than frustrated by what you could have earned.
Frustration
Traders can get annoyed when the markets have behaved in unexpected ways and generates losses or fails to deliver anticipated gains.
Tip: Accept in advance that asset price movements are completely unpredictable and you will suffer losses at some point. These can be managed, say, by attaching stops and limits to your trades.
Boredom
Too many investors buy and sell because they want something to do. They are trading as entertainment, rather than in the hope of making money. As well as making bad decisions, the extra dealing charges eat into returns.
Tip: Open an online demo account and get your thrills without risking real money.
