// Al Dhafra, denied by the woodwork twice on either side of half-time, finally found the target through Makhete Diop in added time to end Al Wasl's unbeaten run in the Arabian Gulf Cup.

The result moved Dhafra to nine points and with a game in hand, and also narrowed the gap behind the Group A leaders Wasl on Sunday at the Zabeel Stadium.

Dhafra struck after Wasl were reduced to 10 players following a direct red to substitute Hamad Al Balooshi for a foul on Abdulla Al Naqbi three minutes from time.

Al Naqbi’s effort early in the first half crashed against the post and Adil Hermach’s dipping shot ricocheted off the crossbar 10 minutes from time.

The result was also sweet for Dhafra as they were returning from a 4-1 thrashing at home by Wasl in the league three weeks ago.

In the other games, Al Wahda's winless run extended to seven in all competitions after Gelmin Rivas' strike two minutes from time salvaged a 3-3 result for Sharjah.

Adrian Mierzejewski put Sharjah ahead on 22 minutes. Sebastian Tagliabue cancelled it from a spot kick awarded for a handball and Khalid Bawazir curled in a free kick in added time of the first half for a 2-1 lead at the break.

Mierzejewski netted his second of the match to level the score just past the hour only for Tagliabue to regain the lead on 80 minutes.

Wahda were reduced to 10 players for a second yellow card on Mohammed Al Dhaheri, and Sharjah capitalising on the advantage struck the equaliser from a header off Rivas.

In the late Group B game, Al Nasr joined group leaders Al Shabab on nine points after a 2-0 win at Baniyas.

Abdulaziz Barrada broke the deadlock nine minutes into the second half and Mahmoud Khamis doubled it from a spot kick on 75 minutes after Adel Abubaker, the Baniyas goalkeeper, brought down Masoud Sulaiman.

Joaquin Larrivey pulled one back nine minutes from time but that was as close Baniyas got as they remain on one point from four games.
