Amir Khan faces unification bout with Zab Judah
Boxer Amir Khan said he will defend his WBA light-welterweight title in a unification bout with Zab Judah. The British fighter said on Twitter he will face the American IBF champion on July 23 in Las Vegas. Khan retained his WBA title when his fight with Paul McCloskey was stopped after six rounds on April 16. Judah, the former undisputed welterweight champion, reclaimed the IBF title when he knocked out Kaizer Mabuza in March.
Gasol wants to go home and play for the summer
Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol said he wants to play for Spain at this summer's European Championship basketball tournament. Gasol missed last year's World Championship in Turkey. According to the Spanish federation's website, Gasol said "if the coach feels he can count on me then I want to help the team win another European" title." Gasol helped Spain to a 2006 world title and a silver medal at the Beijing Olympics.
Steelers sack betting midfielder
The Pohang Steelers have fired midfielder Kim Jung-kyum for allegedly betting on one of his games in a match-fixing scandal that is widening in South Korea. The K-League club terminated Kim's contract because he allegedly bet on a match two months ago. Five players from different clubs have been arrested and charged with taking money from gamblers and allegedly making deliberate mistakes that led to their teams losing.
