Algerian press has slammed their football federation and Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Issa Hayatou after Gabon was chosen to host the 2017 African Cup of Nations.
The 2012 co-hosts won Wednesday’s CAF vote held in Cairo against opposition from Algeria and 2008 hosts Ghana.
"To obtain the organisation of a competition as prestigious as the CAN is a State affair and the Algerian presentation was not sufficiently supported at political levels," daily El Watan wrote.
Other papers accused Hayatou, who has been in power since 1988, of “betraying” and “stabbing” Algeria.
El Watan implied that Hayatou had "preferred to reward neighbours Gabon after assuring the 2019 tournament will be held in his native Cameroon".
Algeria Soir were also critical saying it “was a sporting and political defeat for Algeria” while others cried “scandal” and a “historic slap in the face” for the country”.
The 2017 Nations Cup was initially set to be hosted by Libya before civil war made it impossible to host the tournament.
The Ivory Coast won the 2015 edition in February after edging Ghana in a penalty shoot-out in Equatorial Guinea.

What is Financial Fair Play?
Introduced in 2011 by Uefa, European football’s governing body, it demands that clubs live within their means. Chiefly, spend within their income and not make substantial losses.
What the rules dictate?
The second phase of its implementation limits losses to €30 million (Dh136m) over three seasons. Extra expenditure is permitted for investment in sustainable areas (youth academies, stadium development, etc). Money provided by owners is not viewed as income. Revenue from “related parties” to those owners is assessed by Uefa's “financial control body” to be sure it is a fair value, or in line with market prices.
What are the penalties?
There are a number of punishments, including fines, a loss of prize money or having to reduce squad size for European competition – as happened to PSG in 2014. There is even the threat of a competition ban, which could in theory lead to PSG’s suspension from the Uefa Champions League.

How has net migration to UK changed?

Why your domicile status is important
Your UK residence status is assessed using the statutory residence test. While your residence status – ie where you live - is assessed every year, your domicile status is assessed over your lifetime.
Your domicile of origin generally comes from your parents and if your parents were not married, then it is decided by your father. Your domicile is generally the country your father considered his permanent home when you were born.
