Al Wasl continued their fine start to the Arabian Gulf League season with a deserved victory over Al Wahda at Al Nahyan Stadium on Thursday night.
The 2-1 victory, with goals from Brazilian pair Fabio de Lima and Ronaldo Mendes means Wasl have won three of their opening four matches.
Hungary international Balasz Dszudszak pulled back a late consolation goal for the hosts, who are still searching for their first home win of the season.
In the early game, Ali Mabkhout scored a hat-trick in the second half for Al Jazira as the Abu Dhabi side claimed three points at Kalba.
The UAE international was on target twice with crosses from Mbark Boussoufa in the space of seven minutes. He rounded off his tally with a penalty, awarded against Salam Shaker for felling Khalfan Mubarak.
Ailton Almeida’s arrival from the bench in the second half did have an impact on Jazira’s victory.
The Brazilian striker from Al Hilal, signed hours before Thursday’s transfer deadline, drew the Kalba defence towards him, which allowed Mabkhout free to move inside the Kalba area.
Al Shabab maintained their 100 per cent record in the league with a hard fought 1-0 away win over Emirates in the other early game.
Tomas de Vincenti curled in a free kick in the 76th minute to take the club’s tally to 12 points from four games and remain on top of the table.
