ABU DHABI // Balazs Dzsudzsak, the Hungary captain, completed his move to Al Wahda on a €3 million (Dh12.2m) deal from Turkish club Bursaspor following a medical test at the club on Tuesday night.

“The deal is done, he’s travelled home and will be back on time when the first team resumes training on their return from the camp in Barcelona in the coming week,” said an official of the club.

Dzsudzsak, 29, who can play on either side as a wing attack completes Wahda’s foreign quartet that also include Chile international Jorge Valdivia, Korean Rim Chang-woo, and Argentine Sebastian Tagliabue, the league’s top scorer and Foreign Player of the Year last season.

The Hungarian was one of the first players Wahda began talks before turning their interest to Brazilian Tiago Alves, 23, but that move collapsed after the player decided to sign for Saudi club Al Hilal.

“We only know he’s completed all the paperwork as a Wahda player and all other details will be announced when the player is officially presented to the media,” said the official when asked on the details of his contract.

Wahda won the Arabian Gulf Cup and finished third in the league to clinch a place in the 2017 Asian Champions League play-off under Javier Aguirre, the Mexican whose contract was extended by one year.

Wahda begin their title defence of the cup against city rivals Al Jazira at the Mohammed bin Zayed stadium on September 2 and face the promoted Hatta away in their league opener on September 16.
