The primal appeal of fast cars screaming around the Yas Marina Circuit in the deciding Formula One race of the season is a good reason to visit this weekend – but it isn’t the only one. Shopaholics will want to be among the first to sample the capital’s latest retail wonderland.

Long on the drawing board, the 235,000-square-metre Yas Mall will open its doors to customers tomorrow, with daily crowds of over 50,000 expected on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Cynics may wonder how many new malls the market can bear, but others will be making a beeline for stores never before seen in Abu Dhabi. This includes Rogo’s – a restaurant where the food is served via a rollercoaster. It gives a new meaning to the term “fast food”, but where more appropriate than next door to the Yas circuit?
