It has been a busy week for shark news. There was the video that went viral of Australian surfer Mick Fanning fighting a shark during a surf competition in South Africa. And then there is the latest film in the Sharknado franchise. Clearly, the sea and its species has been dominating the news agenda.
Closer to home, we have some disappointing news about another underwater phenomenon, albeit one still at the drawing board stage. As The National reported yesterday, the future of an underwater hotel project in Dubai has been thrown into doubt after a key investor withdrew. The hotel was slated to feature rooms both above and below the surface.
The project would have been a fantastic addition to the dynamic Dubai hotel scene. What better way to engage man’s fascination with the sea than to wake and look out into the eyes of a while variety of fishes, includin sharks – killers or not.
