Several Twitter users have expressed their excitement about the coming new year. Noting that 2016 had not been the easiest year, their hopes were high for peaceful times ahead.
Loss of loved ones was one of the major discussion points. “For me this was the worst year ever, it took away many dear souls to my heart which left me wounded,” wrote one user.
Another posted: “Goodbye to a year were many suffered the agonising pains of war, loss and left thousands homeless.”
There were also those who were hopeful and kept an open mind about life. They advised others to leave the past behind and to have a more positive outlook on what is yet to come. One user sent out a message asking everyone to be happy and thankful for the smallest things in life. “You do not need a miracle to make you smile,” he added.
