Developing rain enhancement technology could provide an answer to the issue of water scarcity in the UAE. And this is why research grants, such as the UAE Research Project for Rain Enhancement Science, are very important.
The $5 million (Dh18.4m) research funding will encourage scientists and researchers from various disciplines to participate in finding solutions to a critical problem that should concern everyone in this country. Our climate requires creative, innovative and advanced solutions for the water industry.
But while we need large-scale solutions, each of us also has a responsibility to ensure the availability of water resources in the future. As citizens and residents, we need to inject some reality into our lives about water scarcity and sustainability. We need to be more aware that we don’t have an infinite amount of water, and this should be reflected in the way we live – from brushing our teeth to watering our plants.
