I refer to your article Free Wi-Fi in Abu Dhabi taxis from next month (October 18).
I believe that this is an excellent service not only for tourists to this beautiful country, but also residents.
However, not only the passengers will use free Wi-Fi – the drivers will have access to the network. Taxi drivers using their mobile phones while driving is already a big safety issue and access to free Wi-Fi will certainly increase this problem.
I think they should use cameras inside the taxis to record the driver’s behaviour. The footage should be reviewed by supervisors who can take appropriate measures if the driver does not comply with safety standards.

Property advert rules broken?
I am writing about your story, Real estate brokers in Dubai now need to gain approval for property ads (September 27).
Some reports say that it will cost Dh1,200 per property for an advertising permit.
Dubizzle alone has more than 35,000 properties advertised for sale in Dubai, and I am getting bombarded every day with emails for Dubai properties.
None of these have a permit number highlighted in the advertisement, which, I believe, is a requirement.

Another way to fly to Bukhara
I enjoyed reading Caroline Eden's article, My kind of place: Bukhara, Uzbekistan.
The article recommends the Turkish Airlines flight from Abu Dhabi, but passengers can fly to Bukhara, via Tashkent, with Uzbekistan Airways from Sharjah or Dubai, too.

Film screenings are appreciated
Thank you for Your guide to the UAE's European Film Screenings 2016 (October 16).
It is such a well-organised event and a chance to see different films.

Take your time hiring a maid
I'm concerned about the service described in Maid to match: 'Speed dating' style interviews put hiring UAE domestic help on the fast track (October 10).
Does anyone really think that two minutes is all the time you need to interview somebody who is going to be living in your house and working with your children?

Democracy is not always best
Democracy has always had its problems ... just ask the Greeks (October 15) was interesting to read.
Democracy is not for everyone. We invented democracy because people were not happy with one person making all the decisions.
The problem is that not all the people taking part in the decision-making process have all the facts or know enough about the issues to be in a position to make a decision.
Having said that, democracy gives everyone the equal right to be heard.
All systems of government have their pitfalls, and not all are appropriate for every country.

Nothing funny about clowns
I could relate to Justin Thomas's article, How clowns evolved from tricksters to tormentors (October 16).
I have never liked clowns. I hated being taken to the circus as a child, so I am glad there are very few circuses now.

GPS won’t help some motorists
Is over-reliance on GPS technology affecting more than our navigational skills? (October 15) refers to just one problem with driving in the UAE.
Brain atrophy appears to happen the moment some people get in a car. I went to pull out of my car parking space the other morning only to have to hit the brake because some person was speeding the wrong way down the service road.
