A team from the UAE supporting survivors of an earthquake in northern Afghanistan has completed its mission.
The UAE has been providing aid since a 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck near the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif, killing at least 20 people and injuring about 320, at the start of November.
The earthquake destroyed part of the city's holy shrine, the Blue Mosque, a 15th-century landmark known for its vibrant tiles, Balkh province spokesman Haji Zaid said.
“The mission achieved its objectives of delivering a rapid and effective response to affected communities,” state news agency Wam reported on Tuesday.
“The UAE affirmed its readiness to continue providing assistance through various humanitarian channels as part of its ongoing support for the Afghan people and other populations facing crises worldwide.”
