Chart of the week: UAE attracts more migrating millionaires than any other country

Almost twice as many millionaires moved to the UAE than to the next most popular country in the past year, data shows.

More than 6,700 high-net-worth individuals migrated to the Emirates last year, according to a report from investment migration advisers Henley & Partners.

Our chart shows the UAE easily topped the 10 most attractive countries for super-wealthy migration last year, ahead of the US, in second place with 3,800, and third-placed Singapore with 3,500.

Data shows Canada (3,200), Australia (2,500) and Italy (2,200) also proved popular with super-rich migrants.

The provisional figures are based on data from January to June last year, supplied by wealth intelligence firm New World Wealth.

Millionaire migration is a leading indicator of the overall health of a country and its economy, Henley & Partners says.
