UAE revellers can plan to leave their umbrellas at home on New Year's Eve, as a dry night is forecast.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology, daytime temperatures will peak at 24°C in Dubai and will remain a pleasant 20°C in the evening on Tuesday, December 31, when thousands of people will head out to enjoy New Year's Eve parties and firework displays.
It is a similarly bright outlook in Abu Dhabi, with the mercury reaching 25°C during the day and dropping to 19°C in the evening.
Some cloud cover is expected across the country on Tuesday, according to the NCM, and there is a chance of fog rolling in on the first morning of the new year. However, no rain is forecast after recent spells of wet weather.
On January 1, overcast conditions are forecast for the Emirates, along with strong winds. Highs of 25°C are predicted in Dubai, falling to 21°C at night. Temperatures in Abu Dhabi are expected to peak at 24°C, dropping to 18°C at night.
Ringing in the new year
A variety of dazzling firework displays, light shows and concerts will be held across the UAE to bid farewell to 2024.
The Burj Khalifa firework show in Dubai is one to watch. Designated free public viewing areas in Downtown Dubai will open at 5pm on a first-come first-served basis.
In Abu Dhabi, a light show will be held on the Corniche, which stretches 8km along the waterfront. The waterfront on Yas Bay will have two shows to ring in the new year. One is family-friendly at 9pm and the other is the traditional countdown at midnight.
Star-studded concerts include Lionel Richie at Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai, and Andrea Bocelli at Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi.
