Othman El Ballouti has been arrested by Dubai Police, accused of involvement in international organised crime and drug trafficking. The Belgian national’s name was listed under an Interpol red notice and Europol’s database.
The arrest was carried out by Dubai Police’s general department of criminal investigation in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior following an international arrest warrant issued by Belgian authorities, an official statement confirmed on Monday.
Mr El Ballouti has now been handed over to Dubai Public Prosecution for legal proceedings related to extradition.
Dubai Police reaffirmed their commitment to international collaboration to combat organised crime and sharing expertise to bolster safety and security of communities around the world, Dubai Media Office said.
