LightHouse Arabia: Should more of us resolve to be kinder to ourselves?

LightHouse Arabia's annual open day will take place on Saturday, January 27

“Don’t be so hard on yourself.” How many times have we heard that from well-meaning friends and relatives when we’re disappointed to have failed in some commitment or other? And with this being the time of year that many of us commit to getting fit, giving up bad habits or learning a new skill, it’s an ideal juncture to make a further resolution: to be kinder to ourselves.

This has influenced the theme for LightHouse Arabia’s upcoming annual open day in Dubai, which is going under the moniker of “Discover Your Light”, and will be held on Saturday, January 27, between 10am and 3pm at LightHouse’s Centre for Wellbeing, located at 821 Al Wasl Road, Al Safa 2.

Billed as “a full day of interactive well-being workshops and informal discussions facilitated by The LightHouse Arabia’s team of qualified and experienced psychologists”, the event will be suitable for anyone curious about exploring the lighter side of psychology and getting an insight into how psychology can positively enhance well-being.

Fourteen individual workshops will be held on the day, repeated throughout, offering more than 300 places for guests (children and teenagers are also welcome), and they will cover a wide and diverse range of topics and life skills considered critical to enjoying a balanced and fulfilling life. In addition there will be free 30-minute mental well-being check-ups carried out by one of Lighthouse’s experienced psychologists, a supervised play area for children, mind and body activities, and personal development stands. Healthy snacks will be available, too.
