With National Day today and Eid beginning soon, there are plenty of activities for children coming up over the next week. here's our rundown of events in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain.
Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Mums is hosting a Children's Christmas Party on Friday for kids under six, morning and afternoon at the Crowne Plaza. Email ad_mums@emirates.net.ae for more details. Dubai: Visit Ski Dubai and see their mascot, Frostbite the polar bear, who will be entertaining kids with music, fun and games every Saturday from now until the end of December. Shows last for 20 minutes and take place at noon, 1.00pm, 2.00pm and 3.00pm. The show is included in the Dh80 Snow Park entry fee. Al Ain: Soccer lessons are available for children aged four years and older, training Sunday and Tuesday at 6.00pm at the Al Ain Rugby Club. Games are held Thursday at 6.00pm. Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage are organising a programme of National Day events. On the Corniche in Abu Dhabi this afternoon, tomorrow and Thursday, there will be local bands, a carnival show, and a microlite plane show. From 4.00pm. www.37uaecelebration.com. Dubai: Join the Eid sport camp from today until Dec 11. Activities include tennis, martial arts, gymnastics, dancing, football, basketball, swimming and arts and crafts. As part of the National Day celebrations, Mall of the Emirates in Dubai will feature music, a clown carnival and henna tattooing. Al Ain: There will be a cookie bake at the Al Ain Hilton on Saturday. Let your kids experience the fun of baking on the Hiltonia terrace from 2.00pm. Dh10 per child. Abu Dhabi: The Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the Beach Rotana will take place tomorrow at 6.00pm. Enjoy a mince pie or some stollen and a visit from Santa. Fireworks displays to celebrate National Day will take place on the Corniche today, tomorrow and Thursday. The displays will be between 8.30pm and 9.15pm tonight and 9.00pm and 9.20pm tomorrow and on Thursday. Dubai: Active Sports Academy is running holiday camps at Wafi and Regent International School. Al Ain: Fireworks displays will take place tonight, tomorrow night and Thursday at Bida Bint Saoud, between 9.45pm and 10.00pm. It will be followed by a concert on both evenings.
Dubai: Join the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre for courses starting on Sunday about basic acrylic painting techniques.
