Ahead of World Health Day on April 7, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi has partnered with The Galleria to offer a free health-screening programme to visitors on Thursday, April 6.
The screening area will be open at The Galleria mall on Al Maryah Island from 1pm to 9pm, and will provide Cleveland’s heart-age test administered by the hospital’s caregivers. The procedure checks a series of basic health indicators, such as body mass index (BMI), blood pressure and blood sugar levels, enabling visitors to calculate the strength of their hearts relative to their age groups.
The theme for this year’s World Health Day is “Depression – Let’s Talk,” which aims to encourage people to discuss the condition and its impact. Accordingly, as well as offering the test, nurses from Cleveland Clinic will be on hand to discuss physical and mental well-being concerns on a one-on-one basis.
“There is certainly a link between physical health and our mental and emotional well-being,” said Pilar Lachhwani, MD, staff physician, psychiatry, in the Medical Subspecialties Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. “Conditions such as depression have complex causes, and poor nutrition and lack of exercise can be contributing factors. An unhealthy lifestyle can also be a consequence of depression, so paying attention to mental health must be part of our approach to lifelong wellness.”
