In the Year of Giving, LLH Hospital, Abu Dhabi is encouraging residents to donate blood to help save lives.

As part of the campaign, which is called “Donate Blood Save Life” and is in association with SKMC, a blood donation drive will be held on Monday, February 13, at LLH Hospital, Abu Dhabi between 9am and 2pm.

“As per the World Health Organization, blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another. We urge all residents and expatriates to check their eligibility and donate at our camp,” says Dr Anbalagan Pillai, medical director of the hospital.

“One out of six people entering the hospital need blood, and knowing that blood cannot be manufactured, makes blood donation a need for all times. Patients are relying on us to provide the life-saving gift.”

The procedure takes around 30 minutes per person, however blood donors need to be in good health and at least 18 years old. Those with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure will not be allowed to donate.

Potential donors are asked to eat and sleep well before donating, drink plenty of fluids and inform medical staff if they have any health concerns or are taking any medication.
